About the builder, Bruce A. Hancock

Bruce came to Nashville in 1970 to assume the position of Dean of Students at the University of Tennessee at Nashville.  He also served as an Associate Professor of Psychology at UT and Tennessee State University.  He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Tech University and a Masters degree and Doctorate from Indiana University in Bloomington.

He built his very first home in Temple Hills Country Club Estates in 1983.  He pursued his avocation part-time until 1991 when he left the university and began building custom homes on a full-time basis. Construction excellence and client service have always been paramount goals.  Having purchased and lived in several new homes, he is keenly aware of the many elements that comprise the beauty, uniqueness and structural integrity of a home.

While in school he worked in many jobs and has always been adept at problem solving and management of both people and projects.  Never one to shy away from whatever it takes to accomplish an objective, he is able to work with the myriad of individual professionals that are needed to construct a home of enduring quality and lasting elegance.

Bruce has continued his desire for professionalism and to increase his knowledge of residential construction.  He is a licensed general contractor in the State of Tennessee; a member of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the Home Builders Association of Tennessee (HBAT) and the Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee (HBAMT) where he served as 2005 President. He is also a member of the Remodeler’s Council of the HBAMT.  He is a member of the Graduate Builders Institute of the National Association of Home Builders and as such is a Certified Graduate Builder

In 1998, the Home Builders Association of Middle Tennessee began a new Registered Builder program.  It was designed for those homebuilders who wanted to distinguish themselves in the industry.  That same year he was inducted as a charter Registered Builder.  One of only 22 initiates, he underwent a careful financial review and verification process to become a member of this elite group.

In an effort to expand his services to clients, he is also a licensed REALTOR®.  He is a member of the National Association of REALTORS®, the Tennessee Association of REALTORS® and the Williamson County Association of REALTORS®. He is affiliated with ERA Cornerstone Realty in Brentwood, Tennessee.

In 1992, he was invited to become one of the first builder members of the newly implemented Southern Living© Custom Home program.  Composed of selected homebuilders in Southern Living© magazines’ geographic region, he was designated to represent Southern Living© in the construction of exclusive designs by some of the South’s leading architects and designers.

His work has been located solely in northern Williamson County and southern Davidson County.

He is a member of Brentwood United Methodist Church where he serves on the Building Committee and previously served as a Trustee.
